Nathan Peters
Founder · ShroomWire
Nathan Peters is the founder of ShroomWire and the human behind the byline. He’s not a doctor or a scientist — he’s an independent researcher and lifelong mushroom obsessive who reads the studies every single day, learning the science of mycology in the open. His whole job here is to read each mushroom, psychedelic and brain-health study closely, grade it A–F for how strong the evidence really is, translate it into plain language, and — just as importantly — say clearly what a study does not prove.
That honesty is the point. Nathan would rather tell you “the evidence is thin” than sell you a miracle. If a claim outruns the research, ShroomWire says so.
What I cover
- Functional mushrooms — lion’s mane, reishi, cordyceps, turkey tail and the research behind the claims.
- Psychedelic science & policy — clinical trials, regulation, and the gap between headlines and evidence.
- Neuroscience & brain health, and the technology built from fungi.
How I work
ShroomWire’s standard is simple: report what research may suggest, never what it “cures” or “proves.” Preprints and retractions are flagged. Original sources outrank news. The full method is public:
Transparency
ShroomWire is an AI-assisted, human-reviewed publication. Research is drafted with AI tools, but Nathan reviews the desk’s output against the standards above before anything is published, and holds every mental-health or dosing topic for extra human review. We disclose this openly because trust is the product — and because Nathan is a researcher and enthusiast, not a medical professional. Nothing here is medical advice.
